COERR Mae Sot Organized Community-bonding for Preparation for Repatriation

   In May 2018, preparation for repatriation activities were organized in Ban Umpiem camp and Ban Nupo camp in Tak province. In Ban Umpiem, activity was held on May 16th and 17th, each had 25 refugee participants, and in Ban Nupo on May 17th had 41 participants. Totally there were 91 refugees of 70 female and 20 male participating in these two camps.

   Contents of the activity were how to have positive thinking in Crossing the Threshold. VDO clip about disasters was played and after that participants were told to express their opinion towards the situation. Then a lecture was given in using positive thinking to make life easier in understanding and learning to adjust to the situation and go forward.

   Later, participants were divided into small group to discuss about how they would like their community to be, in drawings and words. The outcome was that they prefer the community with important facilities like schools, hospitals, temples, churches and various beautiful places, whether they will be in the third countries or their homeland. They also brainstormed about dream community that they live in unity with courage and endurance to work through all obstructions and problems till they succeed in living together in harmony.

Community-bonding held for the vulnerable in Ban Nupo camp on May 1, 2018, had 41 participants
